ABOUT PAM TRUITT

Pam Truitt

Pamela G. Truitt is the President and founder of Truitt Consulting and is a member of the American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP).  Her civic and community contributions include the sectors of business, education, government, health care, the environment and leadership development.

Boundary Crossers are leaders who step outside of their area of expertise or comfort zone to work across sectors in the community.  Pam Truitt has demonstrated her leadership as a collaborator within the broad range of organizations in which she takes part.

This is the sixth year SCOPE has recognized a local leader with the Boundary Crosser Leadership Award.  The award began in 2005, honoring Syd Adler posthumously.  Since then, the award has been given to Bob Richardson, C. J. Fishman, Isabel Norton and Dan Bailey.  Each has reached past their familiar territory in order to help our community thrive.

About the boundary crosser award

Annually since 2005, SCOPE has honored a community member with the Boundary Crosser Leadership Award. A Boundary Crosser is a person who connects people across boundary lines that traditionally divide community. They are citizen leaders who extend past their familiar territory, whether that’s government, non-profits, business, ethnic groups, religion, or neighborhoods to become community builders.

The honoree is given a sculpture of a tree, symbolizing Boundary Crossers who branch out to find unmarked territories and new possibilities for the future. Read more about the award and past honorees here.

ABOUT THE ARTWORK

The icon of this year’s celebration is an original painting by local artist Tony Sanders.    SCOPE commissioned Tony to create an image representing the idea of a boundary crosser in the community.  The pebble and resulting ripples represents the far reaching effects of a boundary crosser, touching others in many ways.

Artist Tony Sanders is a lifelong resident of Sarasota. He cares deeply about the community and has a passion for working with young children and teaching them how to create art.  Tony is known for murals, portraits, oil and acrylic paintings, and airbrushed clothing.  He works from his studio, LaTroy Studios and his artwork may be viewed at his website. Tony may be reached at (941) 284-5981 or latroyal22@yahoo.com.
